Events in 2012 In 2012 the Bramham Horse Trials will take place on the 7th to 10th of June. The Olympic Torch will also pass through Barkston Ash on the 19th June, and will be nearby in Leeds on the 24th and 25th of June.

Local The main village closest to the Old Presbytery is Sherburn-in-Elmet. Here there are shops, banks, pubs, churches and a weekly market held every Wednesday and Saturday.
The Old Presbytery is also perfectly located for easy access to Sherburn and Tadcaster Industrial areas. For the keen golfers among you, there is a 18-hole golf course in the Scarthingwell Estate, which is about a 2 minutes drive from the Guest House. There is now an identified walk around Towton Battlefields with information boards at regular intervals.
Cities The guest house is also located for easy access to the major cities of York and Leeds. In York there are many shops for the keen shoppers among you. There are also many restaurants, historical buildings and museums including railway (http://www.nrm.org.uk), farming, aircraft and Jorvik York is also well known for its race course and this is wherer the Royal Ascot meeting was held in 2005.
